'How Cruel is my Make-Up Bag?'

I watched this video 'How Cruel is my Make-Up Bag?' about a week ago on Leena Norms (one of my my favourite Youtubers) channel. Once it ended I had been thoroughly convinced that there is no reason to harm animals for something as minimal as my own vanity. I know many would say that I should apply this to other aspects of my life, such as the food I eat, but for now I'm going to take it one step at a time and begin with my beauty products.

I'm going to borrow the structure, as well as the name of this video, for this post. So I will be going through my bag and checking to see if those brands are on the Cruelty Free Brand List. If they are, I will no longer buy from that company after I have used up the remaining product. So first up, my most used make-up brand: Rimmel.

Nope. Rimmel is a brand to 100% avoid. Although most of my make-up items are from Rimmel, I'm aware that they are all replaceable. I will only miss the 'Stay Matte' powder as that is a genuine favourite. Next up: Max Factor, Bourjois, and Catrice (a European brand).

Max Factor is a brand to be a avoided. Bourjois and Catrice are on the pending brands list, meaning that Logical Harmony (the creator of the list) is still waiting on a response from them. For now, I will avoid buying from these companies until I am certain they are cruelty-free. The final brands left to be checked were Benefit, YSL, Maybelline, L'oreal, Clinique, and Soap and Glory. All of these brands (aside from Soap and Glory which landed on the pending list) should be avoided.

In conclusion, my make-up bag is as cruel as it can get! It could only be worse if it were made of real fur. After making the decision to also avoid the brands on the pending list, I can no longer make repeat purchases of any of the make-up items in my bag. This will be a challenge, but a rewarding one!
